PROJECT SKULLDUDES
Skulldudes is a spin-off of Skullgirls featuring humanized parasites and living weapons, focusing on them.
The stories told here are similar in nature as to the Skullgirls’ story modes, being all stories have canonical truth but ultimately paths that could be.
We do not, of course, own any of the material aside from what we personally draw and design and the setting and characters belong to Future Club, Hidden Variable Studios and Autumn Games.

About the World
About the World
The world of Skulldudes is heavily influenced by the world of Skullgirls - same places; same fights. However, a few old things have been tweaked and have been given a new twist from what they previously were in Skullgirls.
Parasites
Parasites
Parasites
Theons, known colloquially as Parasites, are incredibly powerful beings who share their origins with the Skull Heart itself. The abilities and forms of each Theon differ greatly, though they all share a Theonite core. Many centuries ago, their powers used to be considered like that of gods and they were treated as such.
What could be considered a Theons’ weakness is their reliance on having to bond with an Avatar, or a human. Despite having almost limitless strength, that strength is completely dependent on how strong their Avatar is and how deeply bonded they have become. The longer a Theon is bound with an Avatar, the deeper their bond becomes.
Bonding with a Theon is dangerous for an Avatar, since bonding requires a Theon to anchor a part of themselves inside the Avatar’s body - often the Theon chooses to root itself in vital organs and areas. Therefore, once a Theon is bound to an Avatar, it’s impossible for the Avatar to remove a Theon, as otherwise they will die. On the other hand, Theons can survive without an Avatar for short periods of time, but they can only thrive once they are bonded again.
Ideally, a Theon and Avatar’s relationship is at its best when the Theon and Avatar completely bond and become synced with one another - achieving perfect harmony and working most effectively together. However alternatively, over time a Theon and Avatar can simply become one single entity if the Theon takes over the Avatars entire being; effectively erasing the consciousness of the original Avatar in place of their own. The final form of the Theon and Avatar is dependent on the nature of the relationship the two share.
In the present, they are considered vile creatures shunned by society, and any person unfortunate enough to play host to them is considered an outcast as well. Treated as monsters and called ‘Parasites’, they hide themselves from the judgmental eyes of the public; disguising themselves to better fit in with other people. Though they can appear more humanoid to save themselves trouble, the more they use their powers, the more monstrous their forms look.
Artificial Parasites
Artificial Parasites
Artificial Parasites
Man-made Parasites, created for King Franz and his army with the purpose of controlling and refining the theoretical power of the natural Theonite parasites in order to best suit the kingdom’s needs. The first wave of artificial parasites were created at the Anti-Skullgirls Labs with the intent of assisting in the fight against the Skull Girl. Though they are almost entirely all synthetic, they do have Theonite cores powering them much like real Theons. Though their strength might not be able to match an organic parasites, their specialized abilities make them more suited to fighting with specific techniques in mind.
Living Weapons
Living Weapons
Living Weapons
Although they’re almost parasites, a “living weapon” is a more friendly term for a hybrid of human and a parasite. Though they are more socially acceptable, they still carry a stigma of association with the “full-blooded” parasites. Though they mostly have a humanoid form, being half parasite gives most living weapons physical abnormalities that distinguish them from normal humans.
They are beings with a Theonite core, but unlike pure-blooded Theons, they have the option to exist on their own without an Avatar. Living weapons are weaker than pure-blooded Theons, but their strength could be amplified if they chose to bond with a host. Having to use a host in the first place is what is considered taboo by humans though, so many choose not to use a host to save what little dignity they have left to distinguish themselves from their ‘au-natural’ cousins.
Magical Items
Magical Items
Magical Items
Magical items are by definition items with mystical properties. Most magical items stay in their standard form, but they can gain a sentient form by fusing with a living being, with the item becoming their core. The item’s power and potential are greatly amplified post-fusion, making this advantageous. However, the human body will start to corrupt over time and degenerate into the item’s original form, until the body withers away and leaves the item unbound once more. It is possible for magical items to gain a new body, but all their old memories are erased and they start anew.
Most magical items will take up the personality of their host’s body, but the host’s being and memories are purged when an item takes over.
Magical items are very rare and the known art of turning them human has been long lost.
Relationships
Relationships
Relationships
This section is to briefly describe how some of them feel about each other. Though this is only canon for the Skulldudes comic and you are free to have your own ships or headcanons about what each character’s relationship is to each other.
